Sahil Tavora moves from Sesa Football Academy to Dempo SC

Sesa Football Academy’s Sahil Tavora will move to Dempo SC after the youngster impressed Dempo SC coach Arthur Papas.

“I am really impressed with Sahil. Good and young players are hard to find these days,” said Papas.

The 18 year old midfielder will be vying for a place in in Dempo’s I-league squad.  He is ineligible to represent Dempo in the ongoing Goa Pro-League

Kerala coach laments the lack of time for preparation

Kerala team for the 49th Junior National Football Championship will leave Kochi for Bokaro on Tuesday.  However coach T.G. Purushothaman lamented the lack of time for preparing the team for the junior national championship.

“We had only 10 days for the state camp. I wish I had received a little more time to set the team for the nationals. However, I am happy talent wise and hope for a good start. The players, who are training in Kochi, will leave for Jharkhand on Tuesday,“  he said.

Kerala is grouped in Tier-II along with Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.  Kerala plays Arunachal Pradesh in their first match on September 24th.

Nallapan Mohanraj is in a fix after Mumbai Tiger’s withdrawal from I-league

With Mumbai Tigers withdrawing from the I-league, Mohanraj will have to be content by appearing for the team in I-league 2nd division. As an Indian International this could seriously hamper his chances to make it to the national team.

He also clarified on the apparent bust up he had with Mehtab Hossain after the Indian team lost to Nepal 2-1 in the SAFF championship.

Subrata Pal, Gouramangi Singh set for trials with Danish club FC Vestsjaelland

Subrata Pal, Gouramangi Singh who have currently signed up the the IMG-Reliance IPL style league is going to have trials with the Danish premier league football club FC Vestsjaelland. FC Vestsjaelland earlier appeared in India media in the month of June when they earned promotion to Danish premier league. 180X180_1652137869519347c05fa0a

The club has an Indian connection as well. Anglian Holdings, an NRI-owned conglomerate has acquired some strategic stake in the club.

It should also be noted that players signed for IMG- Reliance are in the lurch because of the ongoing impasse between the marketing partners of AIFF and the clubs. 200px-Subrata_palEarlier yet another player signed for IMG-Reliance – Syed Rahim Nabi was said to leave for US to participate in trials with MLS side DC United. IMG-Reliance will at least  try to get trials for players signed with them, or else their players risk of losing crucial playing time with the ongoing limbo with I-league clubs.

India U-16 football team has a new physio in Soumya Rout

Soumya Rout who is currently employed in AIFF regional academy at Kolkata has been appointed as the physio of India U-16 football team. The U-16 football team is currently on an exposure trip in Dubai ahead of the qualifiers for AFC U-16 Championship 2014 starting from Sept 19 in Kuwait.

Durand Cup Semifinals to be telecast by DD sports

Despite beating AIr India 4-3 in the quarter finals Bhawanipore F.C could not qualify for the semifinal of the ongoing 165th edition of Durand Cup.  With Bhawanipore F.C’s ouster, the semifinal line up for Durand Cup is set.

Though it was said that matches starting from the Quarter-finals will be telecast on  DD sports, we guess it did not happen so.  However, there are unconfirmed reports doing rounds that the semifinals and final will be on DD sports.

Johnny Menyongar, the pint sized schemer of Bengaluru FC

Johnny Menyongar , the pint sized Liberian midfield schemer came to India in 2011 from NSC Minnesota Stars, a team that plays  in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and signed for United Sikkim. From there he was loaned out to Dempo SC.

Menyongar has been signed by the newly formed I-league team Bengaluru FC for the upcoming season. He being one of the oldest member in the team, will be crucial in guiding a lot of youngsters that are part of the Bengaluru FC.

Manipur announce team for 49th Junior National Football Championship

All_Manipur_football_AssociationImphal, September 14 2013 : All Manipur Football Association has selected 20 players to represent the State in the 49th Junior national Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy (Tier-I) to held at Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The selected players are informed to report to team officials for further training daily at Khuman Lampak Artificial Turf at 8 am tomorrow.
