Santosh Trophy 2016 : North Zone Qualifiers – Groups & Fixtures

North Zone qualifiers for Santosh Trophy 2016 will be held in GGM Science College Jammu, in Jammu & Kashmir starting from February 6. Teams in the North zone are divided into two groups.

Jammu & Kashmir qualified from Group A and Punjab qualified from Punjab.

Group A : Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh

Group B : Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh

South Zone qualifiers for Santosh Trophy 2016 will be held in JN Stadium in Chennai starting from February 9. Teams in the south zone are divided into two groups.

Tamil Nadu and Services qualify for the final round to be held in Nagpur.

Delhi Announce Squad for Final Round of Santosh Trophy

Defender Abhishek Rawat will lead 20-member Delhi State Football team for the final round of the 69th Senior National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy -2014-2015 scheduled to be held at Jalandhar and Ludhiana ( Punjab ). respectively from March 1 to 15. Mid-fielder Ashu Nathani has been named as vice-captain of the team.

Ten ( 10 ) top qualifying state teams of the country will vie for top honours in the final round of the 69th Senior National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy-2014 – 2015 scheduled to be held Jalandhar and Ludhiana respectively in Punjab from March 1 to 15.

The ten participating teams have been divided in two groups of five teams each which are as :

Group- A cluster at Ludhiana – Assam, Punjab, Maharashtra,Services and West Bengal. Group- B cluster at Jalandhar -Delhi, Railways, Kerala, Goa and Mizoram

Delhi open its campaign against Railways while hosts- Punjab take on Assam in the inaugural matches scheduled on March 1.

Meanwhile, defender Abhishek Rawat will lead a 20-member Delhi State team in the championship. The Delhi Soccer Association ( DSA ) selection committee comprising of Sharafatullah-chairman, Rajiv Gupta- convenor, Hafiz Shahid, Dilip Ghosh( members ), Ranjit Tapa, Dharmender Khorala, Aftab Ashraf -coaches have named mid-fielder Ashu Nathani as vice-captain of the team after a fifteen days selection-cum-coaching camp held at Akshardham and Race course Air Force ground respectively.

Santosh Trophy 2015 Format :

The format of the tournament is as follows.

Zonal Round

State teams from various zone will fight it out to gain a place in the final round of the tournament.

Final Round

Ten teams qualified from the Zonal Round, will be divided into two groups of Five teams each and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Semi-Finals.

Semi Finals

Four teams qualified from the Final Round, will play in the cross Semi-Finals

Final Round to be held in Punjab

Punjab will host the final round of Santosh Trophy. The matches will take place in Ludiahna and Jalandhar from March 1-15, 2015. Group matches in the final round will be held at both venues while the semifinal and final will take place in Ludhiana. Last time Punjab hosted the event was in 1974.

Tamil Nadu football Association (TFA) has announced a 20 member squad for the 69th National football championship played for the Santosh Trophy. Tamil Nadu will play the south zone qualifiers at the MSDC stadium in Manjeri. Tamil Nadu is in Group B along with Services and Pondicherry. Tamil Nadu will kick off their South Zone campaign when they meet Pondicherry on the 18th of January.

Odisha Announce Santosh Trophy 2014-2015 Squad

Football Association of Odisha (FAO) has announced a 20-member State team to participate in the 69th national Football Championship for Santosh Trophy-2015 (East Zone Qualifying Round) to be held at JRD Sports Complex, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from January 15 to 20. Sk Zahid would lead the team as captain. Akshya Das, Ashok Panda and Shuvendu Panda would accompany the team as coach, goalkeeper coach and manager respectively.

Odisha would meet Sikkim, Chhattishgarh and Railways on January 16,18 and 20 respectively.

Mizoram announced their 20 players squad for the 69th National Football Championships for the Santosh Trophy. The north-east zone matches will be played in Morigaon, Assam.

The seven states of North east India have been divided into two groups. Group A is consists of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh while Group B consists of three states – Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura.
