Johnny Menyongar, the pint sized schemer of Bengaluru FC

Johnny Menyongar , the pint sized Liberian midfield schemer came to India in 2011 from NSC Minnesota Stars, a team that plays  in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and signed for United Sikkim. From there he was loaned out to Dempo SC.

Menyongar has been signed by the newly formed I-league team Bengaluru FC for the upcoming season. He being one of the oldest member in the team, will be crucial in guiding a lot of youngsters that are part of the Bengaluru FC.

Manipur announce team for 49th Junior National Football Championship

All_Manipur_football_AssociationImphal, September 14 2013 : All Manipur Football Association has selected 20 players to represent the State in the 49th Junior national Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy (Tier-I) to held at Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The selected players are informed to report to team officials for further training daily at Khuman Lampak Artificial Turf at 8 am tomorrow.

The selected players are as follows: Goalkeepers: Sumthian-thang (DSA/CCpur), Md Habib (IEDFA), Y Dushanta (IWDFA); Defenders: N Tondonba (IW), Chugmei Mariangmei (IW), Y Arnold (IW), L Jacob (IW), Ch Gobin Singh (Bpr), Md Farish (IE); Midfielders: Md Yashir (IE), Akbar Khan (IE), Md Sadam (IE), Ak Loyangamba (Tbl), O Rahul (Kak), Md Shahruck (IW), Bonthanglun (Ccpur); Forwards: Th tiken (Bpr), Th Abinas (Kak), Y sushil (Tbl), SR Kagary (IE) .

Alberto Colaco to join Dempo SC as General Secretary

Alberto Colaco, the former All India football Federation general secretary will join Dempo SC as the general secretary. The Gen. Sec post has been vacant at the club since After Armando Colaco, who was the the coach-cum-Gen. Sec at the club ended his contract after the last season.

Alberto Colaco is the only Indian to win Asian Football Confederation’s Distinguished Service Gold Star Award. There was also allegations that he himself nominated for the award.

Churchill Brothers lambasts AIFF over payment issue

Churchill_Brothers_SCIn a players status committee meeting, AIFF had directed Churchill Brothers to pay up the player’s salaries they had held up so far. Today the Goan outfit has launched a scathing attack on the Indian football federation accusing them for non-payment of full prize-money to the club as they were the champions of the I-league last season.

Churchill Brothers accused that AIFF has only managed to pay 30 lakhs of the totally 70 lakhs which is the prize money for the winners of the I-league. They also accused AIFF of not clearing other dues pending.

AFC to support India’s bid to host U-17 World Cup

afc_2012_sqAFC general secretary, Alex Soosay has voiced AFC’s support for India’s bid to host the U-17 World Cup in 2017.

Even though the Union cabinet has cleared AIFF’s proposal to host the U-17 World Cup, FIFA requires government guaranty on tax exemption, security, visa, foreign exchange and transport. AIFF has not been able to secure these guarantees so far.

The bid proposal has to be submitted before September 30th to FIFA else we risk the chance of hosting to other nations such as Ireland, Uzbekistan and South Africa who are also in contention.

Mohun Bagan doesnt have the money to clear salary dues

200px-Mb_ac_logoMohun Bagan has defaulted on the salary of seven players – Rakesh Masih, Jewel Raja, Manish Maithani, Biswajit Saha, Arindam Bhattacharya, NP Pradeep and Khelemba Meitei. Churchill Brother has defaulted on the salary of two players – Steven Dias and Sandip Nandy.

Mohun Bagan representative in the Player Status Committee meeting with AIFF said that they were ready to clear the due but is not in the right financial situation now.

Kerala FA plans residential football academy

KFAKerala football Association is planning to set up a residential football academy in Kochi as part of their five-year plan to revamp grassroot football in the state. UK club Reading FC will assist Kerala FA by providing their academy syllabus which the Kerala FA residential academy will follow.

The academy will be set up in association with the sole I-league second division team from Kerala – Eagles FC.  KFA is also planning to host an annual football festival for kids in the age-group of 6-2.
